The RTA announced the Blue Line, a 30km metro route with 14 stations connecting Dubai International Airport to Dubai South via Meydan and Dubai Hills. Construction starts Q3 2026, with Phase 1 opening in 2029. Properties near stations expected to see 10-20% value increase.
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially unveiled plans for the Dubai Metro Blue Line, the third metro line in the city's rapidly expanding public transport network. The new line is set to transform commuting for hundreds of thousands of residents.
The Blue Line will stretch 30 kilometres across the city, connecting Dubai International Airport (Terminal 1) through Ras Al Khor, Meydan, and Dubai Hills to reach Al Maktoum International Airport at Dubai South.
The line will feature 14 stations, including interchange points with the existing Red and Green Lines, making it easy to transfer between routes.
Construction is expected to begin in Q3 2026, with the first phase opening projected for late 2029. The project is estimated to cost AED 18 billion and will be delivered in two phases:
Real estate analysts predict properties near the Blue Line stations will see value increases of 10–20% once construction begins. Areas like Dubai Hills, Meydan, and Dubai South are expected to benefit the most.
"The Blue Line will be a game-changer for communities that have long relied on road transport. We expect to serve over 200,000 riders daily by 2032." — RTA Director General
For residents of Dubai Hills, Al Barsha South, Motor City, and Dubai South, the Blue Line will significantly reduce commute times. A journey from Dubai Hills to the airport that currently takes 35–45 minutes by car will take just 18 minutes by metro.
The Blue Line will be fully integrated with the existing NOL card system. Standard fares will apply, and monthly passes will cover all three metro lines.
The Blue Line will be Dubai's first metro line built with net-zero carbon targets. All stations will feature solar panels, rainwater harvesting, and energy-efficient climate control systems.
